As the post states, these community blogs are different from blog directories, which are just lists. Getting your site seen on these hubs is great exposure and will also improve your audience engagement.

You post something that goes viral and everybody’s talking about you. Get Your Biz on Google, or Else
Folks are looking for your retail store, and they’re looking online. Do you have an online presence where they’re searching? If you don’t and your competition does, guess where your potential new clients spend their money.
The stats are clear. The surge in search for local businesses caught fire in 2010 and it’s only going to grow. If you’re not online, and in the places folks are looking, you don’t exist to them anymore.
