The ability to talk directly with folks on Blab has revolutionized my business. Here’s why Blab is such a powerful business tool for me, and how I make money directly from using it.
In the middle of a Sunday afternoon, I decided to pop on Blab and see what was happening.
I didn’t schedule a show, or make any pre-announcements that I was going to be on Blab.
I just did it spur of the moment.
This is the title I used:
How May I Help You? WordPress, SEO, blogging, site security and performance
I started the Blab and clicked the option to notify BlogAid Blab Channel subscribers that I was on air.
Then I clicked the Tell a Little Bird button, which put the show notice out on my Twitter stream.
I was on air for two hours.
How the show went
- 50 people had come into the Blab. I knew only about half of them. The other half were brand new visitors.
- I answered about 20 direct questions on all of the topics in my title, plus questions on hosting, analytics, site audits, site management tools, and more.
- 3 visitors came on camera with me. 2 were long-time followers whom I was able to deepen my relationships with. 1 was a brand new follower of my blog or Blabs who was a new WordPress site owner and wanted advice for that place in his site owner journey.
What happened after the show
I checked my stats everywhere.
I had a total of 20 new followers, including on Blab, Twitter, Facebook business page, and newsletter optins.
What happened to my inbox
I also received 3 emails from folks in the Blab who wanted to hire me to do site audits for them.
That’s money I can take to the bank – this week.
The ROI and Bottom Line
I spend at least two hours on every blog post.
The post may only take me an hour to write. But because I’m so graphically challenged, creating a nice image for it takes me another hour.
And then I take time to promote it everywhere, more than once.
Rarely does anyone hire me directly from the info in just one blog post.
So Where’s the ROI with Blogging?
Many folks find me throughout the year because of my posts. They find those posts on search and on social media.
I build up, and can demonstrate deeper expertise on a topic via my posts.
Some folks know they want to work with me because of my posts, but they are not ready for that project yet. I routinely hear from my clients that they followed me for up to a year before hiring me.
And the constant stream of solid info and advice in my posts keeps me top of mind with them.
Blab or Blog More?
It’s not an either/or for me. It’s a both/and thing.
Blogging and Blabbing have equal value to me, just different values.
The Power of Blab
But I will say this about Blab.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, replaces helping folks directly with exactly the thing they need help with, in the moment they need it.
That’s the real power of Blab.
I can keep cranking out super duper posts and tutorials all day long. But if my audience doesn’t need that info that minute, they are not likely to consume it fully or act on it. But, it’s there when they are ready for it, and they will remember that I wrote about it.
Blab is in-the-moment. That’s the power of all live-streaming media.
And no blog post is going to share my real tone of voice, my vibe, or show how interested I am in you and your questions and concerns.
Plus, there’s nowhere to hide.
Blab is as transparent as it gets. I’ve either got the answer and the help that person needs, or I don’t.
For 15-20 people that Sunday afternoon, I did have the answer they needed.
And 3 were immediately ready to pay for more of that help.
