I know some of you want the skinny on this review right off the bat, so here it is. If you are a blogger, guest blogger, article writer, content marketer, or affiliate marketer, get this book, read it, and do what it says. Here’s the link. If you’re curious why I’m so hot on this book and the author, read on.
About the Author
I often refer to Kristi Hines as a super blogger because that’s the only type of post she writes these days. She is also a professional blogger because that’s how she makes her living. In this book, Kristi tells you the how-to and why-to of the steps you can take to be successful online too. And, the steps aren’t just lip service to good ideas. She’s writing what she knows and what she has been doing for years, and she has the track record to prove that it works.
Three Considerations
There are three caveats. You can’t just read this book and have success. You have to take the steps in it and actually do what it says.
The second caveat is, this is a well-rounded book. You can’t expect to do just one or two things in it and have the same results as Ms. Hines. However, you can take each step one at a time, get that down solidly, and then move to the next. The results you’ll achieve will be cumulative.
The third caveat is, the promotion techniques outlined in this book work best if you already have an established blog with an established audience. It doesn’t have to be a huge audience, but the steps provided assume that this is not a new site with one blog post and no followers. The nice thing is, Kristi also tells you how to build that audience on all major platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn.
If you do have a new site, you still need this book. Don’t put off learning about SEO and building your audience. If you learn these two things at the get-go, you’ll have success a lot sooner than most.
What Blog Post Promotion is About
This book is about taking your blog to the next level via promotional techniques that get results.
I appreciated that each section focused on one topic and helped the reader understand what that tool or technique accomplished and, more importantly, why and how it would help you succeed in your overall goal.
I especially enjoyed all of the screenshots of the tools being described. It helped me get a concrete idea of what Ms. Hines was describing.
My .02
Blog Post Promotion: The Ultimate Guide is a solid book on this topic, written by someone who walks the talk and doesn’t gloss over the details. More importantly, Kristi Hines has documented the steps she has taken to help her become a super blogger with a loyal, and still growing, audience. If you do what she suggests, you will see results.
I got the first edition of this book shortly after it was released and have been putting the steps into practice for a few months. And, I’m delighted to report that they are working. That, and that alone, is why this book will make it onto my Resources wall. (The 2nd Edition has been updated and expanded, as some of the online platforms have changed a bit since the first Edition. ) I’m extremely picky about the products I endorse. I only post the ones I use and what works. Full disclosure – all of the links to the book from this page and on the Resources page are affiliate links. That’s how much I believe this book will help you.
