GA4 Courses Closing Schedule
It looks like the dust has settled on GA4 for now.
So, I am closing my GA4 courses for new purchase.
Renewal opportunities will remain open until September 1.
And the course will close around March or April 2024 after all subscriptions have expired.
I will continue to add updates if Google makes any changes between now and then.
Thank you to everyone who jumped on this opportunity to get switched over from Universal Analytics and get your GA4 set up properly!!!
Revamp and Price Drop on DIY SEO Course
Now that we are finished with all regularly scheduled live workshops for the year, I’m making changes to how the DIY SEO course will be run.
I normally run those live workshops from January to July, as that is when most of my clients are available to do their SEO updates.
Everybody is just so busy now and most folks are opting to watch the replays instead of coming to the live events.
So, we’ll be doing the workshop part of the course as a weekly drip next year to help you keep pace and ensure you see any changes to each topic we cover.
And, I’ll be doing live workshops on new topics, like AI SEO. Plus we’ll meet live as new changes warrant all throughout the year.
And of course, I’ll be keeping the Yoast, Search Console, and Bing tutorials updated as they change.
To celebrate the new format, I’m dropping the price on the course from $247 to $197.
For those already in the course, you are grandfathered into your insanely low renewal discount, so no need for you to do anything.
And if you are a client or in any other course, you will find a code to get an even bigger discount on the new price.
SEO Tips
Don’t Update or Republish Your Holiday Posts
One of the things we cover at length in the DIY SEO workshops is how Google treats updates to post.
We also cover ways of doing it that can get a top ranking posts knocked down to page 10 and how to avoid that.
It’s August and that’s when many bloggers start polishing their holiday posts
If you’re making minor tweaks, you need to ensure you’re not allowing the last modified date to be changed. Google does not like having to waste crawl budget for such things. Plus, it could decide that your perfect post is no longer so perfect and drop the rank over it too.
See my tutorial on the Limit Modified Date Plugin to avoid that penalty.
Same with updating the images. You want to replace them without updating the post.
See my tutorial on the Enable Media Replace plugin to help with that.
And most definitely don’t republish a post that didn’t have significant content changes just to get it back to the top of your category list!!
That is a horrible practice that was never a good idea and now Google is dropping rank on those posts because of it.
Instead, build a content silo and promote that page instead of your category.
There’s a whole workshop in the DIY SEO course on how to do that, plus how to properly redo a content revamp.
Get in On What’s Trending
The Barbie and Oppenheimer movies are perfect for newsjacking, as told in this post from the Content Marketing Institute.
Their also perfect for doing Barbie-inspired type stories too that maybe you can incorporate into what you normally blog about.
Getting in on trends is one of the things we cover in the DIY SEO course.
It’s a flash of ranking, but it brings you new eyeballs that you didn’t have and may not have gotten otherwise.
Plus, it helps get your creative juices flowing to think about framing what you talk about endlessly in a different way.
Write Elsewhere
Blogging for ads limits your thinking about marketing, in my opinion.
You only want to do marketing that is a teaser with a direct link back to your post.
I’ve been publishing to Medium and every platform that allows videos all year.
Not only am I getting more visits to my site from them, I’m also getting valuable backlinks. And now those posts are showing up on Google Search higher too.
Plus, the YouTube videos are showing up higher on YouTube plus on Google Search.
So, the real question is, why are you limiting your reach and your ability to make more money by not getting eyeballs every way you can?
Doing so ultimately helps your SEO, and that helps your traffic from SEO.
SEO Changes all the Time
Doing SEO is not a one-time thing. It’s an evolving process.
That’s why folks who get into my DIY SEO course stay in it for years.
It works.
It keeps them up to date with what works.
And they keep raking in more money.
Content Marketing Tips
Building Trust is the Key
You follow me for one reason – you trust me to tell you the truth about successfully running an online business.
I take the trust you have put in me very seriously. And you know that I do.
Well, how did that happen?
The first thing that happened was that I dug deep and ran tests to get to the truth.
And then I delivered that report to you in a no-nonsense manner.
Then you decided that what I told you was the truth because you tried it and it worked, or better yet, you avoided some expensive pitfall in time and money because of it.
I delivered on my promise to help you make more money.
So you stick with me and I answer to you.
The internet is a hot bed of misinformation.
Spun content was always bad about misinforming. AI spun content will be just as bad, but so much faster and easier to produce that the internet will be deluged with it.
This is where you and your expertise have the opportunity to really stand out.
In my mind, video is the perfect medium for endearing trust.
Just talk to folks and tell them what you know to be tried and true.

Use Facebook to Build Trust
My lawnmower needed a fix beyond what I could do myself. So I called up a local repair person.
While setting a time for him to pick up the mower, I mentioned that I have to check my calendar because clients book me too.
He asked what I did and I told him that I help folks make money with their sites.
That piqued his interest and he asked how I could help him.
I told him that with me being new to this town, the first place I went for a recommendation was to my neighborhood Facebook group.
He should get a 1-page website that was free or cheap with his basic info for services and contact.
And he should get a Facebook page where he posted every few days with the jobs he did, plus pictures of the mowers he was servicing, and his truck and trailer to show he came to you to service on the spot or haul.
And then he should monitor every neighborhood Facebook group in his service area, and encourage his customers to review him there too, and share a link to his Facebook page to make it easy for folks already in the app to find him.
I met many of you through Facebook groups.
What groups can you be active in that help establish you as someone who knows about a topic?
What local or online organizations can you participate in?
How can you get interviewed on a podcast or such to talk about your topic?
The point is, start thinking beyond your blog and get you and your info out there every way you can.
AI Content Tips
Will AI Replace Food Blogs?
Foodies! You’ll want to see this Instagram post for how AI can be used to glean info from a food image.
This particular TikTok talks about using AI to generate a calorie count.
But it can just as easily be used to generate a recipe too.
The question is no longer if AI can do it.
The question is whether folks will use it.
I’m betting it will have to show up on an app form for that to happen.
And even then, most folks will not know it exists.
But, if it gets incorporated into existing, well-known diet/nutrition apps, then folks will become aware of it and use it.
I’m thinking apps like Noom, PlateJoy, and others.
Next year, it may be time for you to consider an app for your site – and a way to get ad money on it.
Maybe bring this to the attention of your ad agency and see what they think.
