GA4 Happenings
Only 3 Days Left on GA4 Course Discounts
The final countdown is real.
In 3 days Universal Analytics will stop tracking visits to your site.
And the hefty discounts on the BlogAid GA4 courses will end on July 1 as well.
Right now you can get $100 off the Ultimate GA4 Course for Bloggers.
Don’t miss this opportunity.
Fix Google Borking This So Badly
Google has already told us that they will auto migrate everyone starting July 1 too.
That may include folks who have already set up their own GA4 account, as Google doesn’t seem to be checking for that no matter how many of their insane hoops they insist we jump through.
I already have tutorials in the course for checking if you got caught in Google’s misguided attempt to migrate folks back in March. They created a new GA4 property and connected it to your UA tracking code on your site. You have to jump through a few hoops to get rid of it.
I bet we’ll have to go through that same exercise again come July.
And, I’m betting that they have something up their sleeves with that UA integration because they insisted that we do that even if we created our own GA4 property from scratch.
Time will tell and I’ll update the course for it.
SEO Happenings
AI SEO Workshop This Week
I’m so excited to help get folks in the DIY SEO course started on AI SEO in this week’s workshop.
There are super fast and free ways to do all kinds of keyword research and competitive analysis.
I’m thinking this will eventually become a whole new series of workshops as the AI tools just keep getting better, and AI itself starts impacting our SEO more and more.
It’s always a good time to join us in the course. All workshops have replays.
How NOT to Check Ranking on a Post
There are so many old myths about how to check your post’s rankings, like Googling it or using an incognito window.
Nope.
Get the skinny on how to check your post’s position on Google and why it changes over time.
Money Making Tips
Patreon Releases Free Membership Tier and Digital Products
For vloggers, meaning folks that have gained their following primarily through video, Patreon has been a go-to resource for gatekeeping their paid content.
Primarily that has been in the form of exclusive live access to that vlogger.
But what if you want a try-before-you-buy tier?
That sort of seems silly because their fans already have tons of free content on the vlog.
But then, what if you want to run a free training or such? You can do it as a playlist on the blogging platform, or on your site, or on another membership platform.
It would just make more sense to run it where you already have paid content and use it as a foot in the door to get folks to create a Patreon account.
So, Patreon finally released a free membership tier for that very reason.
Once followers get over the resistance of creating the Patreon account in the first place, it’s a lot easier to get them to take the next step to pay for the exclusive access type of membership.
And, instead of sending followers to another site for digital downloads, Patreon has also released that function to creators as well.
This puts them one step ahead of the type of memberships that YouTube offers and I think it is a smart move.
Do You Have a One-Stop Shopping Funnel?
Over the past 2 years video platforms have been moving into e-commerce and offering more on-platform perks to their creators.
Fans want to interact with you where they found you. So this move by the platforms is a win-win for everyone.
And now that video is the #1 way to get new eyeballs plus nurture your audience, sales funnels have to adapt to take advantage of that, like this move by Patreon allows creators to do.
For bloggers, I have always maintained that you need to have a shop off your blogging site, like in another WP site that is a sub-domain or on a 3rd party platform like Shopify. That’s exactly the setup I have for BlogAid, where the main site is the blog and then I have 2 member sites for my courses.
But I’m adapting that attitude for the AI Discover Hub.
The blog there is nothing more than a repository of my vlogging efforts in one place so that they can also get some traditional SEO.
But Google is NOT where the majority of my views come from.
Those new fans are on video platforms like TikTok.
Everything about this site is geared towards show-and-tell, which is something AI can’t replicate.
And the site was always meant to be a course platform first and a blog second.
In fact, there are many vloggers who don’t even have a traditional blog. Their fans go straight from video to purchase.
That’s the sort of thing I’m building with the AI Discover Hub.
Have you adjusted your funnels for video or for selling your own products?
What roll does your site play in it now?
I think these are important questions to ask as video continues to become the primary marketing vehicle.
For folks who still count on ad revenue and traditional SEO, I would most definitely not put a shop on your blog. The speed and complexity for security of the shop impacts what you need for that SEO success.
But, if you are building a new site with vlogging as the primary marketing, consider having a one-stop funnel or at least building everything on your site so folks aren’t jumping all over the place to find your info and offers.
Marketing Tool Tips
Beehiiv Newsletter Creator and More
Beehiiv is newsletter creator that I see more and more AI influencers using.
That’s probably because it has a free tier.
But it also offers site builder and hosting and more.
The Beehiiv company valuation just doubled as they raised another $12 million in venture capital.
So, I’m keeping an eye on this one as an up and coming player.
Trying New Things is Good
I’ve been trying all kinds of new things for AI Discover Hub.
It’s always a good idea to check out new tools and see if they can do a better job than what I’ve been using for years.
Before I even launched the site, I took a super hard look at platforms like Kajabi that are primarily a course platform that also have a blog.
But, their SEO totally stinks.
Of course, most vloggers, course creators, and coaches don’t rely on traditional SEO anyway. Most do video or buy ads or link up with others who have a big email list and do affiliate marketing.
As for the membership parts of those platforms, I can do it as well or better, and cheaper with WordPress, as I’m grandfathered into a legacy license with MemberPress.
I also looked into changing newsletter service providers. I’ve been using MailChimp since day 1 with BlogAid, and it has always been goofy. Plus, the way they handle subscribers has me paying more than I should too.
I looked into Beehiiv and a few others. But the deciding factor was something modern that would also integrate natively with MemberPress. I chose Active Campaign. It has some goofy stuff too, but it’s better than MailChimp for sure, or others that have been around a long time.
I’ve also been using Amazon S3 for backup file and video storage forever.
But for video courses, I also have to pay for Cloudfront for fast delivery, and then S3 Media Maestro to protect the content.
I’m going to give the Bunny Streaming service a try and that will cut out a lot of expense and integration for me.
It may also cut out my having to use Handbrake to encode the videos properly so that they don’t have buffering at the beginning. That will be a huge time saver.
AI Images Course Progress Report
A couple of weeks ago I was out working in the back meadow and got bug bit like crazy where I didn’t have any repellent protection.
That included multiple face and neck bits.
I have not been able to do video marketing since, as I looked like I had chicken pox or such.
Most all of that is now gone, but I have a new bite on the end of my nose and I look like Rudolph right now.
But I’ve got all kinds of AI news I want to make blogs about and may go on with the show, red dot and all.
And I’ve used all that extra video making time to go bonkers creating the tutorials for a new AI Images course.
It will be a master course on Midjourney.
And it will also cover Photoshop AI, and all of the other Adobe image tools like Firefly and Express.
Plus, I’ll have a bonus section on Microsoft Design.
I’m in the process of setting up the course and sales page and such on a dev site right now. Lots of learning curves because I’m using an LMS this time, which is a Learning Management System that shows course progress and it has a much better layout for the course too.
It will be a monthly subscription, as AI image stuff changes all the time. In fact, Midjourney just had a new release and I’ll be adding those features before I launch the course.
It will also have a community with perks.
This course is for folks who want to make money with AI images.
And there will be a directory listing for shops of course members to show off what they are doing and to help them make more sales too.
I’ll keep you posted on progress and let you know when it’s publicly available.
In the meantime, be sure to follow the AI Discover Hub for the latest AI news and tips.
