Why to Check

If you haven’t taken any action to set up GA4 yourself, or even if you already have but didn’t turn off auto migration, Google likely has created a new GA4 Property for you.

And they connected it to the Universal Analytics tags that they found on your site.

Do this.

How to Check

Log into your Universal Analytics account.

You may see a countdown timer.

Click No thanks.

Go to the top left and click on your property.

Look in the Properties & Apps column.

Do You Have a GA4 You Didn’t Set Up?

Do you see a new GA4 property that you didn’t create?

If so, that’s the one that Google auto migrated and connected for you back in March when they thought it was a good idea to do that.

Use or Start Over?

Now you can use this one if you finish setting it up.

Or, you can disconnect and delete this one, and set up a new GA4 property fully and the right way the first time.
