Install the Find My Blocks Plugin
This is the Find My Blocks plugin page in the WordPress plugins repository.
It was updated by a new developer in spring of 2024, and this is how the new version works.
Let me show you a quick trick for ensuring you get the right plugin.
- Log into your WordPress site.
- Go to Plugins > Add New.
- Click the Favorites tab.
- Type in blogaid in all lowercase and click the Get Favorites button.
- Scroll down the list until you see the Find My Blocks plugin.
- Install and Activate it.
See Your Blocks
Once you have the plugin activated, in the left admin sidebar:
- Go to Tools > Find My Blocks
- If you don’t see it, you may need to refresh your browser window
Scan for Blocks
One of the biggest changes made to the plugin by the new developer is the ability to select how much of your database is scanned at a time. This is especially helpful on big sites.
The recommended setting is low, which will scan 10 of your templates, posts, and pages and report the block types it finds.
If you have really good hosting with enough resources to avoid overages, you can select the Standard setting.
To make this demo fast, I’ll leave it at the Low setting.
Click the Start Search button.
You’ll see the progress as it is doing the scan. Give it time to finish.
Block Report
Once the search is complete, you’ll see a report panel on the left.
Scroll down it to see if the type of block you were looking for has been detected.
Core are blocks that are native to WordPress.
The block types I’m looking for are those from the Spectra plugin, formerly known as the Ultimate Addons for Gutenberg Blocks plugin made by Astra. That is why they have the uagb prefix.
Click on Block
From here, you can click on the block type that interests you.
Give it a moment to produce the module on the right with a list of every place it found that block.
Here’s an example of a search result on one of my other sites.
Edit Post
To edit a post or page where it found that block, click the Edit link.
You’ll be taken to the post or page editor for it where you can make any desired changes.
Return to Find My Blocks
After you are finished with that change, to return to the Find My Blocks report, in the left admin sidebar, click Tools > Find My Blocks.
The results of your previous scan will be shown.
Filter Blocks
For all future scans, you can input the name of the block to locate in the Search field.
Or, you can click in the Block Provider drop-down and select the block provider you’re most interested in finding. It will have options from what it has located so far with your site.
And when you hit the Re-scan button in the top right, it will scan the next batch of 10 and only report the block provider I put in the filter.

This is exactly what I needed. Thanks for the plugin heads up and the easy tutorial!
Me too!!! I’m very excited about how well this works. Should make changeover a LOT easier.
Very helpful!!! Thank you MaAnna!!
You’re most welcome!!!
Excellent updated tutorial as usual. You make it so easy for us to make our sites better.
Thank you for your kind words, Harriet. I’m so glad you found it helpful and glad we still have such a plugin to use.
MaAnna,
What do we do to change/remove the Spectra blocks once we find them? Sorry, guess I missed that next step.
There is an Edit link in the top right of each results. Click it to enter the Editor of that post and then you can copy the content of a Spectra block to a native WP block or any other block type of your choice.
