Take 3 Weeks or 3 Years to Be an Online Success

Woman with QuestionsYou’ve got a WordPress site and a passion you want to share with the world. Now what? You’re going to go down one of two paths. You’ll either be lured by the cheap and easy ads, chasing every shiny thing, and spending way too much for your tuition to the school of hard knocks. Or, you’ll invest in your online education up front and start earning real money faster and know exactly how to maximize your opportunities. Which path are you taking? I’ll show you which one is actually more expensive and why.

First Things First

The very first thing most new site owners want to start with is their theme. That’s one of the most costly mistakes you can make. Way too many of my clients have a $1500 theme and little revenue. I can also show you several examples of multi-million dollar earners who have crappy themes. Your theme, no matter how special, is not what will make you rich.

Start with What Counts

Content, content, content. Everything about a successful website starts with high-quality, market-ready copy. That copy must then translate into conversions. That is followed by SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to get your site found online. Next is relationship marketing through in-person connections and social media. And then it circles back to the content on your site.

If you do everything you can to send traffic to your site, and then you don’t have the content to keep them there, keep them coming back, and turn them into clients, you’re missing the whole point.

I offer up to 12 hours of training to help clients with that one sentence above. And those clients devote about a month creating a site based on what they learn. When they launch, they hit the ground running so hard they have to hold on to their hats.

Invest in What Matters

Knowing how to use WordPress, SEO, conversion, lead generation, and your theme is the exact order I use to teach clients how to have a successful site immediately upon launch. Here’s why. Because it works.

Most of my clients are second-time site owners, meaning that they have already had a site long enough to know that they are not getting where they need to be and they are ready to invest in what they need to know to get there.

At least 85% of them do not know WordPress and SEO fundamentals. About 90% have never used a premium theme, nor do they know how to harness its power to their advantage. In a single 3-hour session with me, they learn more about having a successful business than they garnered in 3 years of being online and collecting random tips from so-called gurus.

Are You Suffering?

If you’re not making money with your site, then you are suffering from what you don’t know that you don’t know. I can write blog posts every day to give you a tip or trick. While it’s good info, it’s still disjointed.

What you, and every site owner needs, is a whole picture. There’s no way you can get that whole picture in one blog post, or even ten posts. Nor can you get it in a generic video.

Real results come from someone getting in the trenches with you, learning about your business, and guiding you through the information in a succinct way, as it applies directly to you and what you’re trying to accomplish.

The Value of Free

You are not going to find that kind of help in a free webinar, or on YouTube, or in a free ebook you download for giving someone your email address. You’re not going to get results being a tip collector either. You actually have to do the work, and that’s only after you sort out which tips and techniques will work for your business and your audience.

Here’s the vicious circle logic. If you don’t already know what you’re doing, you can’t properly vet the people you are learning from.

I’m in the business of helping clients recover from being ripped off by folks who didn’t know what they were talking about, or didn’t consider the whole picture, or were just snake oil salesmen enticing folks with the idea of riches without effort.

If you’re looking to get everything for free, I know which path you’re on, and I know that in two or three years you’ll either fold or get on the path that leads to services like mine. And, you’ll see them as cheap compared to what you’ve wasted in time and money as well as lost business!

My Challenge to You

If you’re serious about your success, I invite you to see if you really do know everything you should about the role your site plays in helping you achieve your goals. That includes the online marketing savvy you learn while building your site for maximum SEO, lead generation, and conversion.

Take the WordPress Quiz. It’s full of the things that all of my clients know when they finish a course, and why they have successful sites right off the bat.

See How I Spot an Amateur Website Owner in 2 Seconds Flat. Then compare those notes to your own site.

And then read why Cheap and Easy Isn’t Either with Website Ownership.

But I’m on a Budget

There’s a saying running around the Web. “If you think hiring a professional is expensive, wait until you hire an amateur.”

Maybe it’s time to think about how much it’s costing you not knowing what you need to know. How much more time are you willing to devote to the try-this-try-that approach? How long can you work for free? Wouldn’t you feel more confident if you knew what you were doing and why?

Because there is no way for me to prove to you that you will benefit from training until after you take a class, I invite you to connect with the people who have, and hear what they have to say about the value of what they learned compared to the cost.

Visit the Portfolio page and read what others have to say about the experience. You can contact any one of them through their site too. If you contact any of my clients, you’ll discover why they are glad they made the investment, and why they keep coming back for every new training class I offer. They simply can’t afford not to.

Here’s a podcast with one of my clients, Carole Billingsley. (Hers is the Seek Social Media site in the Portfolio.)You can hear exactly what it’s like to completely revamp your site and the immediate success you can enjoy afterward. Here’s another podcast with Alys Milner. (Hers is the Organized at Heart site.) She revamped her site after being in business for five years.

And then, when you’re ready, have a look at the training options I offer and see which one is right for you. Or, just contact me and let’s chat about it.

  1. Hey Maanna,
A very enthralling share!! The title of the post speaks volumes about the content of the post. Patience is definitely the key which can bring home success, there is no point counting the time one has spent in this arena. Thanks for the share.

    1. Thanks, Aayna. I’ve listened to interview after interview with successful folks who all said that they spent years learning the hard way before they figured it out. But now there are so many experienced folks online that can help you shorten your learning curve. No need to waste all that time any more.

  2. If one starts being that speculative about how much time will it take for them to meet with success then they are actually obscuring themselves from taking the initiative. In this field all that matters is being focused and persistent. Great share.

  3. You’ve said it all perfectly, MaAnna! It is really alarming that you are taking actions on something that you don’t fully understand. The tendency is for you to end up with nothing but regrets.

  4. I agree that good quality content posted regularly is what will make the difference between a blog that makes it and one that doesn’t
Keep up the good work and thanks for this post.
