  • Why it’s getting scary out there – and what I’m watching

Happenings

AI SEO Workshop

This week in the DIY SEO course we’ll do our first AI SEO workshop of the year.

We covered this topic quite a bit last year, but there have been significant changes since then.

And, there have been a LOT of posts on snake oil tactics to get cited in AI Search.

Some of those tactics can completely bork your SEO standings.

So, that’s the main thing we’ll be covering this week.

We’ll have a few more AI SEO workshops this year because the topic is too deep to cover it all in one session.

WordPress Tips

WP 7.0 Beta

The first beta of the next major release of WP is expected to be available today.

The final release will be in early April. They’ve returned to doing 3 major releases a year.

The big include in this one is an AI API that helps standardize how 3rd-party AIs connect with your site. I’m glad, because this is a big security issue that needed to be addressed at least 2 years ago when everybody and their brother started making AI plugins.

SEO Tips

Bing WMT New AI Report

Bing Webmaster Tools is beta testing a new report so we can see exactly how our posts are being mentioned in AI Search results.

We’ll be covering this in the DIY SEO course as soon as it rolls out to everyone.

Security Tips

It’s Getting Scary Out There

You may have noticed that there’s not a lot of news to share with you this week.

That’s not for a lack of stuff going on behind the scenes!!!

I’ve been in touch with Dustin at Iridium Hosting every other day for the new security threats we are seeing. That’s so we can coordinate our efforts to ensure our client’s sites are as secure as possible, but offer the least friction to visitors.

And the things we are seeing are SCARY!!!!

We can thank AI for that.

And some of those things include multiple folks who are trying to build a WordPress alternative, including one that is supposed to run itself. (None of them work – yet.)

And there are hosts who have deployed AI Agents to check the server security and such too.

None of them work well yet either.

And what we see coming from all those new things are multiple ways they can be hacked, and then the hackers can use the hosting resources to attack other sites, or hosts, or such.

Just know that I’m not telling you everything as it comes up because it’s just too much.

But I am addressing all of these things behind the scenes to ensure we stay safe.

The host and webmaster you trust with your site security matters more than you know, especially now.

Thanks so much for choosing me to help you!!!

  1. Hi MaAnna,

Scary doesn’t even begin to describe it…You ain’t seen nothing yet!
Wait until Agentic AI hits the mainstream!

    1. It’s already here, and it is my biggest nightmare – has been ever since I heard about the first AI agent. The security issues with OpenClaw alone are through the roof, and it’s one of the most popular hubs.
