Turn off Google Analytics Countdown Timer

Are you seeing a countdown timer like this in your Google Analytics?

Even if you’ve already set up a GA4 property and told Google no to auto migration twice already, Google is still going to try to force you to connect your UA to a new GA4 account.

But you can at least stop it from auto creating that new GA4 account.

And see what else you need to know about these settings.

Click Go to Setup Assistant

What you choose here will be determined by what you may have already set up.

Don’t Do Auto Setup

If you have not created a new GA4 property, I would not let Google do it for you as it will not complete the full setup and only do 2 of 12 steps and you’ll be missing a lot. And it will connect through your existing UA tracking code.

If You Have a GA4 Property

If you’ve already created a new GA4 property, Google is now forcing you to connect your UA property to it. This also assumes that you have already installed your GA4 tags on your site too.

Turn Off Auto Setup in the Future

No matter which way you go with the two choices above, do this step in the Automatically set up a basic Google Analytics 4 property section.

Toggle that off.
