GTMetrix Micro Plan Announced
GTMetrix is my favorite mobile speed tester. It’s FAR superior to Google PageSpeed Insights. But you have to be on the paid plan to get that mobile tester.
You can only run desktop tests on the free plan.
I was super excited to see their announcement for a new Micro Plan that will suit me and my webmaster training members much better – and it is less than half price the current Solo plan we are on.
The new Micro Plan becomes available Dec 1.
That’s about 2 weeks prior to my annual renewal, so I’ll definitely be switching over.

Helpful Content Update Recovery Plan
Last week we met live in the DIY SEO course for a workshop on the kind of content that Google’s Helpful Content Update targeted.
And we discussed changes you could make to your content going forward that will be what Google is looking for.
We also discussed how insanely important it is to focus on building tribe, meaning an engaged audience of repeat visitors.
Right this minute I’m working on a recovery plan for what to do with our existing content that will help us recover our site’s ranking.
Keep in mind that the HCU was a whole site ranking update.
So, any type of recovery is going to need a wholistic plan.
And that’s what I’m making right now for course members.
The Money is in the Data
My clients who make 5-figures a month spend 90% of their time digging into their metrics and only 10% of their time creating new content or revamping existing content.
I also who have clients who make 3-4 figure months who spend 90% of their time on the content creation hamster wheel, and who never take time to look past their vanity metrics of which posts are in their top 10 for traffic.
I honestly don’t know how to make it any clearer where the money is for ROI (Return on Investment).
Spend your limited time doing what makes you the most money – and that is NOT blindly churning out more content.
It’s in the feedback of what content does the best, and why, and doing more of that.
And to figure that out, you’re going to need data from both Google Analytics and Search Console.
Plus, you need year over year data, as so much of the content we make is either seasonal or transitory.
AI is a GREAT Data Cruncher
The Recovery Plan I’m working on consists of gathering data from both Google Analytics and Search Console.
And then doing a preliminary sort on it to sequester what’s performing well from what’s not performing well.
And then digging into both sets of data to get a clear picture of what’s working and what’s not.
That’s a LOT of number crunching data analysis.
I believe AI can help us with that.
Here’s what I’m building for us.

The End of 3rd Party Cookies is Near
It’s hard for me to believe that Google has gotten away with kicking this can down the road for nearly 4 years now.
But the end of 3rd party cookie tracking in Chrome will finally begin in early 2024.
We have just a few months before ad revenue drops by 60% because they can no longer be targeted with accuracy.
Mediavine published a post about their solution for both the ad buyers and site publishers.
But not all of their publishers/bloggers are participating in that program.
A Better Way to Make Money
Blogging for ad revenue is, by far, the slowest and hardest way to make money online.
The heyday of it has come and gone now that only folks who were well established on Pinterest are still seeing any traffic from that source.
Plus, DIY, foodie, and craft blogs were hit hard by the Helpful Content Update in September too.
That’s because they are a horrible user experience.
Why less ads = more money is something we discussed in the DIY SEO workshop for the HCU too.
When I started talking about this with my site audit clients 4 years ago, some of them listened and jumped on the video making bandwagon.
They are thriving now.
And those who took a serious interest in creating their own products are thriving now too.
The consult clients I’ve been telling you about lately see the $$$$$ in their pivots into another way to be profitable too.
For these folks, ad money is a bonus, and not the main source of their income anymore.
It’s All About Building Tribe
Consider this Q&A:
Q: Why do you make sure you read Tips Tuesday EVERY week?
A: Because it’s helpful content.
Q: Why do you buy BlogAid services and courses?
A: Because you KNOW I can help you make more money and make things easier for you.
Q: Are there other site techs out there that you could go to for info and services?
A: Yes.there are tens of thousands of them.
Q: So, why do you keep coming back here?
A: Because I get help.

Think about those questions and answers.
Then think about how to apply them to your own site and content and newsletter.
You need to do whatever you can to make your site visitors feel the same way about you and your content as you feel about me and what I provide you.
Build a tribe.
Encourage them to engage with you.
Give them a reason to keep coming back.
Be helpful, not just informative.
See the difference?
