Easy reference for the steps presented in the video tutorial.
Before You Get Started
NOTE: You will need a Google account to use this service, like a Gmail or Google Workspace email account, or an account with any other Google product.
NOTE: Ensure your contact form, or wherever you plan to use the reCAPTCHA keys, has a way to integrate them, or enter the key pair.
Go to Google reCAPTCHA
Go to the Google reCAPTCHA site to get started at https://www.google.com/recaptcha/about/
V3 Admin Console
At the top, click the v3 Admin Console.
If you are not already logged into your Google account, you will be asked to do so.
Register a New Site
I already have a few sites registered, so your interface may look a little different.
In the top right, click the + sign.
Label
In the Label section, input the name of the site for your reference. It does not have to be the full domain with extension. You can also use an acronym.
reCAPTCHA type
Check the box for reCAPTCHA v3. This is the invisible spam checker that only bots can see. And bots have learned how to break the v2 setting, so v3 is the better one to use.
Domains
Click to the right of the + sign and add the domain and extension of the site you are creating this key pair for.
Owners
It should show the email address you used to log into your Google account.
You can also add more owners here, if you like.
Accept Terms of Service
Check the box to Accept the reCAPTCHA Terms of Service.
Send Alerts
Be sure the box is checked to send alerts to your email address for when Google detects issues with the reCAPTCHA on your site or when it sees a high amount of hits in a short time period.
Keep in mind that this alert will be sent to all email addresses listed in the Owners section.
Submit
Once you have everything configured, click the Submit button at the bottom.
Copy Your Keys
You will be taken to a page where you can see and copy your key pair.
Click the Copy Site Key link to place it on your clipboard.
You will want to paste this into a plain text editor like Notepad.
And then click the Copy Secret Key link to place that on your clipboard and then paste into your plain text editor.
Delete Keys
If you ever need to delete a site from this service, then you can go to the Settings for that pair.
And in the top right, click the Trash Can icon.
You’ll be promoted with a pop-up window asking if you are sure.
Click Delete.
Add Keys to Your Contact Form
Next, you’ll want to add this key pair to your site’s contact form using its integration method.
If you’re using Formidable Forms, see the tutorial on BlogAid for how to get started with setting it up properly, including for no database bloat, and for GDPR compliance, as well as how to integrate reCAPTCHA v3.
